A Message for The Day

Preface: A Verse of scripture in the morning may become a benediction for all the day. It may sing in the heart as a snatch of sweet song from morning till evening. It may become a liturgy of prayer in which the soul shall voice it's deepest want's and hunger's, amid toils, struggles and cares. It may be a guide through perplexing tangles, an angel whispering cheer, a comforter breathing peace in sorrow.

In these pages a Bible text — oftimes only a fragment — stands at the head, with some words which may illustrate and emphasise the thought of the Scripture, and frequently with some quoted lines which may have a message to the reader.

No effort has been made to follow any chronological or other order, save that in a few cases fragments of the same story are kept together.
